How to make transforming paper stars (Note: this post contains affiliate links.)īonus: the completed project looks so complicated that you can fool people into thinking you are an origami ninja. Alternatively, you can make them yourself and if your younger children are old enough that they won't rip the completed project, you can show them how to play with it. It's a good math art project when you have some one on one time with your older child. I'll be totally honest, it's not the easiest project for very little ones, but if your child can fold a paper airplane ( which is the perfect STEM play date, by the way!) then he or she can make the transforming ninja star. This gem of a project combines math, art and paper engineering. We are in love with these origami transforming paper stars.

A team with Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins should not rank 28th in passing DVOA at -12.4%, behind offenses led by the likes of Sam Howell, Zach Wilson and a struggling rookie Bryce Young. While he is technically healthy enough to play football, he's clearly not healthy enough to play football well, and the Bengals offense has floundered as a result. The calf injury he suffered in early August has sapped him of his mobility and caused the entire offense to have to be rethought from the ground up, and it's not working. In a normal year, that's what the headline would be the "what's wrong with the Bengals?" stories focusing on their inability to get off the field causing them to sit at, say. They're allowing 5.1 yards per carry, ranking 30th with a rush DVOA of 8.9%, and have been getting gashed on a regular basis. The defense has, in fact, regressed, though it's been the ground game that's really hurt them. We were concerned about the losses of Jessie Bates, Von Bell and Eli Apple and had them projected 25th in defensive DVOA after finishing 11th in 2022. Our preseason projections were harsher on the Bengals than the general public. Instead, they've joined the Bears as the only teams with multiple games below -50% DVOA this season. The Bengals were supposed to be part of the Big Three with the Chiefs and Bills as favorites in the AFC. Sunday's 27-3 loss to a Titans team that can best be described as "uninspiring" isn't quite the nadir of Cincinnati's season – their -56.8% DVOA in Week 4 was ever-so-slightly higher than their -59.1% mark in Week 1 – but it was another crushing blow to a fan base that had Super Bowl aspirations before the season started. CalfWatch 2023 continues, as Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals watch the season slowly drain away. Whether you use Zoho's other apps already or only need a notes app, Notebook is a solid choice if you want easy organization above all else. And "sketch" notes can only be the size of your iPad screen, without the ability to add pages or change the canvas size.ĭespite this, I found the folder-style organization of Zoho Notebook far easier to use versus the flipbook-style pagination of GoodNotes (and others). Zoho Notebook supports both handwritten and typed notes with a few limitations, like not being able to combine the two within the same note. In fact, Google users will recognize Zoho's to-do list format as nearly identical to Google Keep. Each format is well-designed for its purpose with familiar settings. Each notebook is like a folder where you can store any of the various note types, including text notes, to-do lists, checklists, and sketches. I've previously written about Zoho trying to be Google Workspace on steroids, and the same is true for Notebook. It left me wishing I could type or write wherever I wanted.īut if you mostly prefer to type notes and want seamless syncing between your Mac, iPad, and iPhone, Apple Notes could be the perfect iPad notes app for you. Even the act of inserting a section can be enough to disrupt your creative workflow if you enjoy sketching out ideas. You can insert multiple "Pencil sections" within a note, but this segmented, document-style format can be limiting. Similar to other text-first apps like Evernote, in order to handwrite with Apple Pencil, you have to add a handwriting "section" inside a note. It's awkward to combine typed text and handwriting within the same note. There are a few drawbacks for more advanced (read: picky) note-takers. In short, it's got most of the features you probably want for simple note taking, and it's easy to use from the second you open it. Notes supports handwritten text or sketches with the Apple Pencil, typed text, links, photos, and videos, and it offers some basic text formatting options like checklists, lists, and headings. Made by Apple, Notes comes pre-installed on your iPad and offers an intuitive user experience and flawless syncing over iCloud-and it's free. Good note-taking apps make full use of Apple Pencil with pressure sensitivity and tilt support to make writing on the screen feel like paper. In my opinion, these are the five features that the best notes app for iPad needs to have:Īpple Pencil support. We’re not sure how exactly this will change JPay, but we are concerned. In other breaking news: Securus is acquiring JPay, which leads the market for sending money into prisons and, as I mentioned earlier, provides video visitation in state prisons. They confirm that private companies are setting correctional visitation policies and that the motive for banning in-person visits is money, not safety. Those facilities have either limited or cut off in-person visitation entirely to ensure that the video-visitation venture can support itself, bring in revenue, or both.įrye’s comments are telling. That’s what you’re seeing at some of the county jails around the state. “Because this is such new technology, many of the companies providing it are pressuring correctional facilities to strongly encourage video visitation. “We agreed to the cut in audio commissions and to forgo the video commissions because the other option would have been to strongly push inmates into using video visitation instead receiving in-person visits from their families,” Frye said. While the video visitation industry often claims that correctional facilities alone decide to limit in-person visits, the language in Securus’s contracts suggested otherwise, and Frye has now confirmed our fears: DOC spokesman Cathy Frye told the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, “We do not, however, want it to become a replacement for face-to-face visits.”īut according to the DOC’s Frye, Securus does not market its video system as a supplement for families who have difficulty visiting in-person. Thankfully, the Arkansas Department of Correction will be implementing Securus video visitation as a supplement and not a replacement. In addition to leading the video visitation industry, Securus’s video visitation contracts are unique because they often explicitly require the elimination of in-person family visits. Our January 2015 report on the video visitation industry found that most states that have large video visitation programs contract with JPay. While Arkansas will not be the first state to adopt video visitation, it is the first state that we know of to contract with Securus for video visitation services. You might remember Securus as it’s one of the private companies that dominates the prison phone industry and leads the for-profit video visitation industry.
